Tasting Notes
Burgundy Domaines such as this are a rare find – even more exceptional because the vineyard holdings here are almost entirely made up of Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels in Vosne/Echézeaux.
Grands-Echézeaux lies just west of Clos Vougeot and is widely considered the more refined and complete of the two grands crus. The Lamarche parcel sits in a prime position within the vineyard, where the thin clay-limestone soils and gentle slope favour depth, structure, and aromatic purity.
In 2019, conditions were warm and dry, resulting in small, concentrated berries and naturally low yields. The result here is a wine of impressive intensity and poise — dark fruit, spice, and earth, carried by a finely woven tannic structure and fresh mineral lift. A serious and long-lived Grands-Echézeaux that shows the precision and finesse increasingly associated with the Nicole Lamarche era.

97 / 100""A brisk clear pure cherry red colour with the most vibrant bouquet to date. Very intense, still more in red fruit than floral, then a wealth of intense yet hugely charming fruit, a little bit of alpine strawberry, some fresh deep red cherry, just the right acidity and a long graceful finish.""

""This is actually quite similar aromatically to the Clos de Vougeot but with a bit less earth influence. The caressing big-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate density and almost painful intensity before concluding in a sappy, powerful and focused finale that is shaped by dense but attractively fine-grained tannins. This is at once serious yet elegant and a wine that should amply reward extended keeping; indeed it will require it. *Don't Miss!*""

""The 2019 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Lamarche’s 0.30-hectare parcel. It has a well-defined bouquet of pure red cherry and strawberry fruit, very elegant and ethereal in style, plus hints of sous-bois in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with very lithe tannins and more grip than the Clos Vougeot. Quite edgy and tensile, this fans out gently on the floral/rose petal finish. Very fine, although there is not a "Grands" gap between this and the Echézeaux this vintage.""
