Tasting Notes
The soil is classic white sand over clay, the cooler elevation allows the grapes to slowly mature. The hallmark of this wine is its lifted spicy aromatic profile and the beautifully textured and persistent tannins.
This very special vineyard was created from cuttings off the Kay Brother’s Block Six, a well-known vineyard with 110 year old vines. Previously used as the McLaren Vale component for Ares, Dave’s Block became part of the Single Vineyard Series in 2014 when they decided to bring Ares back to 100% Barossa Valley fruit.

Scores
94 / 100"The 2021 Shiraz Dave's Block Blythmans Road Blewitt Springs is soft and littered with black cherries, garden mint, licorice and red apple skins. It is sedate in the mouth, built around a core of intense, pure, juicy, purple fruit. It finishes with clove and tobacco. It is reminiscent of the Kretek/clove cigarettes in Indonesia—if you've ever tried, you'll know what I mean. It is spicy, rich, full and long and not for the faint of heart. 14.8% alcohol, sealed under Diam."
