Tasting Notes
With roots stretching back centuries, Calon Ségur holds a singular place in Bordeaux’s history and the hearts of collectors. The estate’s instantly recognisable heart label symbolises the passion of its most famous steward, the Marquis de Ségur, who prioritised Calon above even Lafite and Latour. This legacy of devotion is carved into the very walls of the château and captured in every bottle. Revered as one of Saint-Estèphe’s oldest and finest crus, Calon Ségur continues to charm wine lovers with a heritage that transcends time and reason.

97 / 100"A fruity wine that’s approachable but still serious and complex, with cocoa, currants, paprika and berries. Medium- to full-bodied. The tannins are taut, chalky, caressing and superbly knit with the fruit. Really juicy and long, and there aren't any hard edges. 82% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot, 8% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. - James Suckling"

"With alcohol returning to 13%, Château Calon Ségur 2024 feels closer than ever to its innermost tenderness. In a vintage with limited sunshine, it didn’t resist with force. Instead, it turned inward, refining itself with quiet resilience, carving strength through restraint, and etching detail with grace. The body is light but focused, with the first sip reminiscent of the pink glow of dawn on the water’s surface, soft yet unexpectedly resilient. It brought to mind the 2021 vintage of Calon Ségur, with its melting softness that effortlessly soothes a weary soul. A remarkable wine from a modest vintage, and I highly recommend it. - Alexandre Ma"
