Tasting Notes
Château d’Armailhac 2024 is a refined and expressive Grand Cru Classé that reflects the breadth and diversity of Pauillac’s famed terroir. With 77 hectares of vines across three distinct vineyard sections, the estate captures the nuance and complexity that define the appellation, ranging from gravel-rich soils that lend structure to cooler clay-limestone plots that contribute freshness and aromatic lift. The 2024 vintage benefits from a growing season that demanded precision and care, rewarding that attention with exceptional balance and purity. The wine opens with bright, vivid fruit, blueberry, raspberry, and hints of cassis bud, layered with floral notes and a trace of peppermint. On the palate, it is both lively and composed, with a silky texture and fine-grained tannins supported by a subtle saline thread. The finish is long, poised, and graceful. Under the guidance of new leadership and with recently modernised facilities, Château d’Armailhac continues to evolve while honouring its deep-rooted identity, offering a wine of clarity, finesse, and promising longevity.

94 / 100"Such an impressive aroma is truly rare in the 2024 vintage. With the new cellar and the synergy of the “dream team” – Lucie Lauilhé, the manager, Cédric Marc, the cellar master, and Mathieu Maudet, the vineyard manager – the wine achieved an unexpected maturity despite a vintage with more rainfall and less sunshine. The fruit aromas, led by the restrained presence of blueberries and wild mountain berries, are neither bold nor loud but have been arranged with precision. The spice aromas of licorice, cinnamon, and star anise are particularly notable, like tendrils of smoke rising from a light mist, lingering and controlled. Under the stretch of high acidity, the body’s lines are sharp and refined, with a refreshing sensation that clings to the palate, like dew on fruit after a rain, fresh with a playful twist. - Alexandre Ma"

"A fragrant, floral nose with fresh red cherries, berries and touches of cocoa powder and graphite. Bright and poised, this has medium body, vibrant acidity and an expressive finish. No sweetness. Juicier and more classic this year, though not as concentrated. 72% cabernet sauvignon, 14% merlot and 14% cabernet franc. - James Suckling"

"Spicy black currants and floral aromas are already evident on the nose. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and fresh, with a crisp edge to the savory currants and a hint of peppery orange rind in the finish. Allow it a year or two in the bottle, and it will reward your patience. The wine consists of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 14% Cabernet Franc. This represents the highest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon ever used in the blend in the history of the estate. 12.9% ABV, 3.69 pH. Harvesting took place on September 25 - October 5. Drink from 2028-2045. - Jeff Leve"
