TASTING NOTES
DML VIN is a collaboration between the D'Anna family, Sam Middleton and Jordan Lewis. The aim of DML VIN is to focus on single site regional Pinot Noir and it brings together the winemaking talents of Sam Middleton and Franco D'Anna.

This wine, in true fashion, is the more brooding, darker fruited, denser of the two wines we make. Pinot noir from the Mornington Peninsula is often so distinctive and it’s our job as winemakers to ensure those unique characteristics shine through in our wines. Plums, sour cherries and a hint of oak are all present on the nose. There are some slightly reductive notes here adding a meaty complexity and earthy tones to the fruit profile. The palate is still tightly wound and taut at present but exhibits impressive intensity and length of flavour that will continue to build with time. Expect this wine to benefit from extended cellaring over the next 5-10 years.

From a couple of vineyards in Mornington. Some will like this more than the Yarra Valley offering, though that’s Pinot Noir for you.

Blood plum, cherry, cut fennel, a little spice and subtle creamy oak. It has a gently earthy character, a little flesh on its bones, though kind of discreet for a Mornington Pinot Noir, fine powdery tannin, clean acidity, and a finish of excellent length. Not as ‘detailed’ and fine as the Yarra DML, but very good all the same. Classy. Drink : 2022 - 2028
