Tasting Notes
Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is a family-run estate based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. Under the leadership of Erwan Faiveley, the domaine has combined traditional practices with modern techniques, focusing on expressing the unique terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Their commitment to quality and precision has solidified their reputation as one of Burgundy's leading producers.
Latricieres-Chambertin is a Grand Cru vineyard located in Gevrey-Chambertin, known for producing wines of elegance and complexity. Domaine Faiveley's parcel in this vineyard benefits from its cool microclimate and well-drained limestone soils. In 2014, the grapes were hand-harvested and underwent meticulous sorting. Fermentation was carried out with a portion of whole clusters, followed by aging in French oak barrels, with a judicious use of new oak to preserve the wine's purity and finesse.
The 2014 Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru presents a deep ruby hue. The nose offers a complex bouquet of red cherry, raspberry, and subtle floral notes, intertwined with hints of wet stone and soft earth. On the palate, the wine is refined and precise, showcasing flavors of red berries, pomegranate, and a touch of spice. The fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity contribute to a harmonious structure, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish. This wine exemplifies the elegance and depth characteristic of Latricieres-Chambertin and is poised for graceful aging over the next two decades.

Scores
95 / 100""A highly reserved, cool and super-fresh nose only reluctantly gives up the essence of red cherry, pomegranate, wet stone and soft earth aromas. The supporting tannins are even finer than those of the Clos de Vougeot and the minerality is much more pronounced on the delineated middle weight flavors that seem to vibrate in the mouth before terminating in an austere, saline and hugely long finish. In the same fashion as the Clos de Vougeot the tannic spine is fine but quite prominent and plenty of patience is a must. *Don't Miss!*""

""This is a beautiful, ripe and floral wine. It does have structure although the main focus is on the rich, juicy fruit. Berries and red plums push through the rounded tannins. It will age magnificently, with great richness""

""Dark red. Very pure but subdued aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and minerals. Suave and wonderfully precise on the palate, conveying lovely inner-mouth rose petal lift to the flavors of raspberry and crushed-stone minerality. Totally different in style from the Clos Vougeot and Echézeaux and a step up in precision, finesse and sophistication. The very long, rising, saline finish perks up the taste buds. My projected score may prove to be overly conservative.""
