Tasting Notes
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is part of Burgundy’s new vanguard — the 13th generation of his winemaking family, yet unafraid to challenge convention. Since launching his own domaine in 2017 at just 19, he has earned rapid acclaim for his precision, minimalism, and respect for terroir, crafting wines that are both technically masterful and emotionally expressive.
'Les Suchots' is one of the most coveted Premier Cru sites in Vosne-Romanée, lying directly below Romanée-Saint-Vivant and beside Richebourg. The vineyard's clay-limestone soils and ideal mid-slope exposure yield fruit of both elegance and power. Girardin farms organically and vinifies with a light hand — fermenting with minimal extraction and aging in custom 456-liter barrels to gently frame the wine without overpowering its nuance. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This 2020 Suchots is a strikingly refined Pinot Noir: lifted aromatics of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, violet, and sweet spice glide from the glass. The palate is silken and poised, with fine-grained tannins and a mineral backbone that carries the wine to a persistent, fragrant finish. Both detailed and seductive, this is a wine that captures the quiet intensity of Vosne-Romanée at its most classical — and its most compelling.
