Amber Lane ‘Silk Lane’ Single Malt Whisky 700ml
48% ABV | Australian Single Malt Whisky
A Study in Patience and Precision
Amber Lane Distillery, nestled in the highlands of New South Wales, has swiftly garnered acclaim for its meticulous approach to whisky-making. Eschewing shortcuts, the distillery emphasizes long fermentations, deliberate distillation, and extended maturation in premium casks. This commitment to craftsmanship is evident in every bottle, and Silk Lane stands as a testament to this philosophy.
Silk Lane begins its journey in virgin American oak casks, where it spends approximately 14 months absorbing complex spice notes and developing a rich mouthfeel. It then transitions to ex-Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for an additional three to four years, allowing the whisky to mellow and integrate layers of honey and vanilla. This dual maturation process, inspired by Cognac traditions, includes the gradual addition of water during the final stages to gently lower the ABV, resulting in a softer, more approachable dram .
On the nose, Silk Lane offers an inviting bouquet of dark sugar, cinnamon, and juicy oak, complemented by subtle hints of red frogs and citrus. The palate is equally engaging, presenting a harmonious blend of spice and sweetness, underpinned by a creamy texture that lingers gracefully.
This expression is not merely a whisky; it's a narrative of dedication and finesse. Silk Lane encapsulates Amber Lane's unwavering pursuit of balance and depth, delivering a whisky that is both refined and resonant.
