Tasting Notes
Produttori del Barbaresco, a historic cooperative founded in 1958 in the village of Barbaresco, is revered for its unwavering commitment to traditional winemaking and the pure expression of Nebbiolo. The Pora vineyard, one of the nine crus bottled as Riserva in exceptional vintages, is situated on gentle, south-west-facing slopes with fertile soils rich in nitrogen and lower limestone content. These conditions contribute to wines that are approachable in their youth, with supple tannins and vibrant fruit character.
The 2013 vintage was marked by a cooler growing season, allowing for extended ripening and the development of complex aromatics. Grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel, followed by 36 months of ageing in large Slavonian oak casks, adhering to the cooperative’s traditional methods.
The 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Pora presents a deep garnet hue. The nose is intricate, offering aromas of menthol, new leather, dark culinary spice, cured meat, and forest floor. On the palate, it is full-bodied and polished, delivering flavours of juicy Morello cherry, pomegranate, liquorice, and clove. The wine’s assertive tannins and bright acidity provide a structure that promises longevity. An almost salty note closes the finish, adding to its complexity.
This wine is approachable now but will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years. It pairs exceptionally well with hearty dishes such as roast lamb with rosemary, duck confit, or a traditional cassoulet, where the wine’s depth and complexity complement the richness of the food.

95 / 100""A rich, cherry- and floral-scented red, effusive in aroma, with the core of cherry prevailing on the palate. Though fleshy, this gives way to firm tannins that line the lingering aftertaste. Inviting and full of energy, so decant now or wait.""

""The 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is soft, pliant and enveloping. In many vintages, the Pora can be a bit light. Not in 2013. The wine is rich and deeply textured, with layers of fruit that continue to build with time in the glass. The tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. This is an especially powerful, brooding edition of the Pora. Although impressive today, the 2013 will drink well for decades to come.""
