Tasting Notes
Maison Louis Jadot, founded in 1859, has long been one of Burgundy’s most trusted names, known for producing wines that faithfully translate the identity of their vineyard origins. With holdings across the Côte d'Or, Jadot combines traditional techniques with the resources of a major house, offering consistency, quality, and depth across its extensive range.
The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is one of Burgundy’s most historic and iconic vineyards — a single walled clos at the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Jadot’s parcels lie in the upper mid-slope, where well-drained limestone and marl soils give structure and finesse. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in French oak barrels (typically around one-third new) for 18–20 months to allow for slow development and integration.
The 2009 vintage, a warm and ripe year, brings richness and generosity to this classically structured Clos Vougeot. Deep in color, the wine opens with aromas of dark cherry, plum, forest floor, and subtle wood spice. The palate is broad and layered, with firm tannins and underlying minerality that point to its Grand Cru pedigree. Now entering its ideal drinking window, this is a wine that rewards both immediate enjoyment and further cellaring.

96 / 100""Displays enticing aromas of flowers, cherry, strawberry and spice, with a hint of leather and licorice in reserve and a long, long finish. A wall of tannins shuts this down—at least for now. The aromas are worth the price of admission.""

""The 2014 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Allouettes has an introspective bouquet. There is something "steely" about this: cold metal, copper piping underneath the transparent red berry fruit. The palate is quite harmonious on the entry. There is a taut line of acidity here, clean and crisp, very linear with touches of bitter cherry towards the finish. There is something "moody" about this Morey-Saint-Denis, which may well be its way of saying that it needs to be cellared for 3-5 years.""

""A slightly riper and more complex nose presents notes of red currant, floral, spice and notably earthy aromas. The energetic, punchy and well-delineated flavors culminate in a lightly mineral-inflected, delicious and well-balanced finale. This moderately firm effort should be drinkable after only 6 to 8 years if desired.""
