Tasting Notes

A flagship expression of McLaren Vale, this wine reflects a deep commitment to purity, creativity, and precision blending. Crafted from the best fruit and finest barrels, it’s a silky, textural and complete Shiraz—offering both immediate drinkability and exceptional long-term ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Intensely layered with dark blackberry, plum, and redcurrant, lifted by subtle hints of rhubarb. Nuanced oak integration brings aromas of dark chocolate, roasted spices, dried herbs, and fresh vanilla—complex and harmonious.

Full-bodied and richly textured, featuring bold flavours of blackcurrant, boysenberry, and redcurrant. Layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice unfold over fine acidity and structural tannins, delivering impressive length and finesse. A concentrated beauty built to age gracefully over the next 10–20 years.

Sourced from two prized sub-regional vineyards in McLaren Vale:

Blewitt Springs: Sandy soils and a gentle westerly slope give wines with deep structure, dark berry fruit, firm tannins, and hints of savoury plum.

McLaren Flat: 40-year-old vines on deep sand with a northerly aspect contribute floral lift and a more pronounced red-fruit spectrum.

Scores

97 / 100

""Immensely complex and sophisticated with dark fruit intensity, dried herb, potpourri and spicy oak aromas on the nose. The concentrated palate exhibits terrific power and silky flow, wonderfully enhanced by plush texture and fine chalky tannins, finishing with an impressive line and length. At its best: now to 2040. $150.00.""

"Very complex spicy/minty aromas. The palate is complex, chocolaty and delicious with plenty of acid to carry it and wrapped in fine “chamois-like” tannins."
- Winestate Magazine

95 / 100

"A blend of subregional vineyards in Blewitt Springs and the proprietary site in McLaren Flat. And yet ... the tannins are a beautifully knitted weave, expanding across the cheeks while enveloping the senses. This is sweet, sure. Shiraz just is. Bumptious, too. But it is hot-climate shiraz à l'Australienne. If this is what we do well, then this is pretty good."
- Ned Goodwin MW, James Halliday's Wine Companion
