Tasting Notes
Pierre-Vincent Girardin, heir to one of Burgundy’s most storied winemaking lineages, launched his own label in 2017 and has swiftly risen as one of the region’s most compelling new voices. Working with historic family holdings and select grower parcels, he brings a fresh, precise vision to some of the Côte de Beaune’s most hallowed terroirs.
‘Les Perrières’ is widely regarded as the crown jewel of Meursault’s Premier Cru vineyards — a site many argue deserves Grand Cru status. Known for its rocky, limestone-dominant soils and exceptional drainage, Perrières yields wines of dazzling minerality and refined structure, combining the richness typical of Meursault with an uncommon sense of tension and clarity.
Girardin’s approach in the cellar is both exacting and restrained. The wine is fermented and matured in custom-designed 456-liter barrels — a size chosen to gently moderate the impact of new oak — before resting for 8 months in stainless steel to retain freshness. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it captures the site’s full personality with no artifice.
The result is a magnum that delivers depth, length, and poise: ripe citrus and stone fruit layered with hints of struck flint, vanilla pod, and hazelnut, all riding on a taut mineral backbone. A wine of serious pedigree and longevity, this is Meursault Perrières at its most luminous and precise — a benchmark for lovers of finely etched white Burgundy.

95 / 100""The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières unwinds in the glass with scents of sweet citrus fruits, white flowers, wet stones and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's a concentrated, broad-shouldered wine underpinned by racy acids and chalky dry extract, uniting sun-kissed fruit with mineral drive.""

""Here there are Chablis-like hints of iodine and oyster shell suffusing the green apple, wet stone and acacia blossom scents. There is excellent volume and focused power to the delicious and minerally middle weight flavors that display solid depth and sneaky good length on the compact and ageworthy finish. Note that this youthfully austere effort will need at least a few years of unwind. *Burghound Outstanding!*""

""The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a generous nose with yellow plum, jasmine and crushed stone aromas. The palate is quite intense on the entry, fresh thanks to a fine line of acidity, though here I am seeking a little more Perrières DNA on the finish, a little more crushed stone/silex. Good length though, this should age well in bottle.""
