97 / 100"The 2024 vintage of Château Angélus continues to embody its signature poise and restraint, though it has yet to fully reveal its ethereal side before the end of élevage. A swirl in the glass releases a beautiful scent of rose, and the first sip brings a fresh, dewy brightness. What moved me most, however, was the gentle, crystalline “sweetness” that rises slowly from the back of the palate, like springwater weeping from stone at dawn – gentle, unclouded, impossibly pure. This vintage of Angélus feels like a celestial fairy descending from the clouds. She steps into the forest wearing boots, her gaze tender, her stride unwavering. Château Angélus 2024."

"The 2024 is the 40th vintage of Hubert de Boüard at Angélus! The bouquet reveals itself with subtlety, even timidity, I would be tempted to write. Nevertheless, it is the subtle part that takes over. It does not fail to enhance the floral side (peonies) as well as the elderberry notes on a background of sweet spices, peppermint and licorice. On the palate, the wine persists in the theme of subtlety. Thus, delicate suave notes appear on the attack and open the way to a linear, elegant, slender and finely sculpted wine, like a marathon runner. The tannins appear late, in the last third of the palate and offer precious support to the entire mouth. A delicate, powerful and precise wine whose only artifices are serenity and wisdom. It knows how to raise its voice without making noise. A gentleman! 2028-2054 - Yves Beck"

"A gloriously frank (Cabernet) franc nose. So obviously Angélus, though it could almost be Hommage à Elizabeth Bouchet (the 100 per cent Cabernet Franc micro-cuvée)! Violet. Peony blooms. Grated dark single estate chocolate. Fruits of the forest. Damson. Black cherry. Blueberry and confit blueberry. A hint of frangipane. Cedar. Graphite. This is succulent and svelte on the layered entry – we move here from Carillon’s layers of silk to the grand vin’s pillows of velvet. Lots of depth and a wide and ample frame too, with gravitas coming from the chalky tannins that pull the bottom layers downwards and in the space that creates release both menthol and a wondrous juicy sapidity. This grows and grows in the mouth. Very precise and intensely detailed. Long and subtle, beautifully balanced and always fresh. - Colin Hay"
