Tasting Notes
Ducru-Beaucaillou is a brilliant expression of one of Bordeaux’s great terroirs. Steeped in history and guided by the experienced hand of Bruno-Eugène Borie, this Saint-Julien estate combines heritage, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to quality. The 2024 vintage is elegant and poised, offering perfumed black fruit, floral lift, and mineral precision—all hallmarks of its unique Günzian gravel soils and the cooling influence of the nearby Gironde estuary. This is Ducru-Beaucaillou at its most refined, vibrant, structured, and irresistibly drinkable.

99 / 100"What finesse and depth in the bouquet of Ducru, which stands out for its ability to create a marriage between ripe black berries (blueberries, cassis), floral nuances, spices, and a touch of cedar wood. The aging works in the background; it does what it must: support the bouquet without intruding on the foreground. As the minutes pass, the nose gains even more depth, showcasing the Cabernet Sauvignon with excellent definition. Creamy and sweet on the attack, the wine has plenty of body. It benefits from an invigorating tension, compact, fine-grained tannins that provide power and freshness thanks to a subtle astringency. The latter underlines the juicy, even saline character of the finish, which it also lengthens. A Ducru that remains true to itself, built on finesse, detail, and power with excellent balance as its common thread, while the finish impresses with energizing fruit aromas. The wine emancipates itself from the vintage, or rather surpasses it, and underlines its ability to excel in many contexts! 2029-2054 - Yves Beck"

"Dazzling with its depth of color and aromatic brilliance. The vintage's limits have been largely exceeded. Profoundly superior. - Bettane & Desseauve"

"As to the Grand Vin, the 2024 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is based on 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, resting in 100% new oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a terrific 2024 that defies the challenges of the vintage. Pure cassis, darker currants, graphite, crushed stone, and sappy violet notes all emerge on the nose. It's medium-bodied, with a beautifully layered, concentrated mid-palate, ripe yet velvety tannins, and a great finish. This classic Saint-Julien will benefit from bottle age and is another brilliant effort from the team. It's one of the richer, more structured wines in the vintage, yet it remains balanced, precise, and never overdone. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"Excellent depth with very good concentration. Lots of dusty, small-grained tannins. Densely packed, with nervy minerals, blackberries, dark chocolate, violets and cassis. Full-bodied and very fresh, with a lengthy finish. Structured and tightly framed. Shows good potential. 86% cabernet sauvignon and 14% merlot. - James Suckling"
