Tasting Notes
Chateau Fonbel has a long, ancient history that dates all the way back to the times when the ancient Romans were active in St. Emilion cultivating grapes for wine. However, the modern era for Chateau Fonbel starts in 1971, when Alain Vauthier purchased the estate.
Aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackberry, black cherry, and plum, along with subtle hints of vanilla, spice, and toast from the oak aging. Full-bodied with a firm tannin structure and a rich, concentrated fruit flavours. You may taste notes of black fruit preserves, black tea, licorice, and cedar, with a long, lingering finish. Well balanced, complexity, and age-worthiness.
