Tasting Notes
One of the great names of Sauternes, Château Suduiraut is a Premier Grand Cru Classé of 1855, located on 91 hectares of sandy-clay soil enriched with heat-retaining gravel. This distinctive terroir, coupled with rigorous vineyard and cellar selection, results in a wine that epitomises richness, balance, and complexity.
Since joining the Axa Millésimes family in 1992—alongside Châteaux Pichon Baron and Pibran—Suduiraut has continued to refine its style, with a clear focus on quality over quantity. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Sémillon (90%) with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc (10%), enhancing both body and aromatic freshness.
In 2024, the estate has crafted a wine that radiates brilliance and finesse. The golden hue mirrors the sunlight that helped shape it, while the palate offers layers of orchard fruit, acacia, roasted nuts, and candied citrus. Built for both immediate pleasure and long ageing, it will deepen in colour and complexity over the decades.

99 / 100"Château Suduiraut has truly stolen the show once again! In a vintage riddled with challenges, Pierre has once more revealed his near-mystical mastery of noble rot wines. Who would have imagined that behind nearly 130 g/L of residual sugar lies something so crystalline, so immaculate? This isn’t technique. It’s belief. It’s not coincidence. It’s the devotion of a perfectionist who refuses to yield. The 2024 vintage shares a similar hue with that of 2021: a radiant gold rimmed with the faintest glint of bronzed green, like the last light of sunset stretching across the edge of the steppe. And the nose? Simply sublime! While the familiar scents of honeyed tangerine and dried apricot are captivating, it’s the subtle burst of Sichuan pepper and saffron that truly delivers a soul-stirring, defining note. It embodies both richness and sweetness expected from a noble rot wine and an unexpected ethereal quality. The way it spirals and ascends across the palate – it’s almost too beautiful to believe. - Alexandre Ma"

"White peaches, pineapples, vanilla, lemon curd, honey, saffron, apricots, and candied tangerines get the wine going. Sweet, intense, opulent, and most importantly, vibrant, this sweet treat is going to be fabulous to enjoy young. But, if you are able to keeps your hands off it, the wine can age for decades. The wine was made from 100% Semillon. Drink from 2028-2060. - Jeff Leve"

"Bright yellow gold, silver reflections. Inviting yellow tropical fruit, very fine botrytis savouriness, ripe mango, a hint of apricot confit, some vanilla, a hint of wood. inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, very clear fruit expression, powerful on the finish, some honey and grapefruit, mineral, long, secure and certain ageing potential. - Peter Moser"

"The 2024 Suduiraut offers up a beguiling mix of passion fruit, mango, pineapple and tangerine oil. Even with 130 grams of residual sugar, the 2024 is not an especially opulent Sauternes. I especially admire its freshness. What a beautiful and expressive wine. - Antonio Galloni"
