96 / 100"The bouquet is splendidly complex and perfumed, revealing blackberry, spiced cherry, vanilla, thyme, tapenade and cedar characters, followed by a delectably mouthfilling palate that is plump and supple with layers of rich texture and gorgeous flavours. It is harmonious, opulent and velvety to a prolonged finish. At its best: 2020 to 2032."

"60+yo vines, matured in 100% new American oak. The back label of this and its Martins Vineyard sibling describe the fruit as red. Try as I might, I couldn't get past black fruits, licorice and a thick vanillan coating of American oak. Like its sibling, has a life that will ultimately depend on the Diam cork."

Tasting Notes
Inky dark fruit on the nose with hints of iodine, mulberry, blackberry and dark chocolate- a classic McLaren Vale nose. Then comes lovely oak aromas of dried herbs, graphite, coffee bean and pencil shavings. The palate is round and gutsy, just what you would hope for from this region. Fine chocolate powder tannins frame the wine around a succulent mid palate. A delicious savoury note hints on the exceptionally long finish.
