Tasting Notes
Burgundy Domaines such as this are a rare find – even more exceptional because the vineyard holdings here are almost entirely made up of Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels in Vosne/Echézeaux.
Domaine François Lamarche's Clos Vougeot is located in the upper section of this vast, walled Grand Cru vineyard, close to the Château, where the soils are thin and stony, creating wines of greater precision and elegance. The site produces wines with a fine balance between richness and structure, a hallmark of the Lamarche style.
The 2013 vintage was cooler and more challenging, with lower yields and more cautious ripening. The result is a wine with delicate red fruit, floral notes, and a signature minerality. The tannins are fine, offering a smooth texture while providing structure for future development. It’s a Clos Vougeot that will continue to evolve beautifully, offering both charm and complexity.

Scores
94 / 100"There is enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. By contrast there is lovely freshness to the delicious if quite virile medium weight plus flavors that possess both good power and punch, all wrapped in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. This should be at its best 12 to 15 years hence."
