96 / 100""Wild fermented; matured 16 months in mostly seasoned American and French oak barrels. Dashing, slick and transfixing. Inky blackberry, black cherry and satsuma plum fruit delivering density with impressive definition, lifted by violet perfume and set to a grand foundation of fresh licorice. Elena Brooks' signature fine-ground tannins carry a long finish.""

""Deep, dark and inky in the glass. Dark-fruited aromas, mulberry, blackberry, spice, brambles, graphite and a whiff of licorice, plenty of complexity here. Rich, dark and layered on the palate, plenty of plummy, fleshy fruit, firm, structured tannins and textured mouth-feel. A very balanced wine built for the long-haul.""

Tasting Notes
This Heirloom Vineyards Shiraz was sourced from neighbours the McMurtrie Family’s extraordinary and low yielding old vines, just adjacent to the Salopian Inn, where Ross McMurtrie, Vigneron was born. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch by bunch, naturally open fermented, with regular hand plunging and gentle pumping over to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Aged in some new but mainly 3 and 4 year one-year old French and Bulgarian oak barriques for 16 months.
Shiraz can be a simple sip or a symphony of the senses, a moment of pleasure or an eternity of contemplation. Only the poet can know, so stop thinking and surrender.
This wine is suitable for vegans.
