Tasting Notes
These wines seek to champion varietal expression. We seek to add texture and complexity but not at the expense of enjoyment and purity. The winemaking can be a little experimental and playful. We hope these wines are enjoyed over and over again from day one.
Fruit from vineyards in the Coal River, Derwent and Huon Valleys. Predominantly whole berry, 10% whole bunch, natural yeast, held on skins for 16-21 days. Pressed directly to and matured in oak (10% new). Bottled unfined.

92 / 100"The 2022 Hughes & Hughes Pinot Noir was made from fruit sourced from a selection of vineyards and was made with a predominance of whole berries, a small proportion of whole bunch (10%), fermented wild and matured in oak. On the nose, there are ripe summer strawberries, raspberry leaf tea, a hint of clove and freshly grated nutmeg and a lick of licorice, and all of that is wrapped around a core of black cherry fruit. In the mouth, the parade of flavor continues, albeit within a fine-boned frame. This is lightweight, spicy and supple. It is ductile and very pretty and only at the beginning of its journey. - Erin Larkin"
