Scores

90 / 100

"There is certainly density of fruit, lavish use of new oak and layers of savoury complexity on the bouquet, whilst also showing a great deal of extract and tannin on the palate; unbalanced in favour of structure at this early stage, time may see this resolve, but the fruit has a very long way to go to make this happen."
- James Halliday

90 / 100

"Smoked-meats charcuterie bouquet, attractive development. The wine is medium to full-bodied and smoothly textured, with fresh acidity and balanced fine-grained tannins. The acidity is just a little edgy, firming up the tannins, but it's a very fine, elegant wine starting to drink very well now."

Tasting Notes

The Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit Verdot and merlot is grown on a 17-hectare vineyard comprising predominately Reynell Selection colonial vine stock. The vineyard lies at the southern end of Coonawarra on traditional terra rossa over limestone soils. Bordelais vilification, followed by 18 to 20 months maturation in new (80-100%) and seasoned French oak, leads to a rich, voluminous wine with mocha, espresso and blackcurrant aromas, savoury new oak, and fine-grained tannins.
