93 / 100"The flagship Rosemount reds have been missing in action for so long that I was sure they’d fallen by the wayside. Time for a blast from the past. Lots of oak here though it’s different oak to the days of yore. Less coffee/chocolate/toast and more smoky cedarwood flavours. Still has a creaminess to it and, of course, a thick presentation of blackberried fruit flavour. It’s succulent and balanced – words you don’t often hear associated with Balmoral Syrah (if you hear any mention of it at all). Tannin is fine and well integrated. Briney aftertaste – which I didn’t like. Bounced around score-wise between 92 and 94."
