19.5 / 20"Knee-weakeningly gorgeous nose. All the perfume and expression of their 2014 but with much greater primary fruit and intensity. Fleshy, opulent, extravagant and outstanding quality. Ghostly persistence - never quite disappears. A proper work of Shiraz art - 19.5 / 20"

"This is a seamless, highly elegant Shiraz from the granitic subalpine zone of Beechworth. A waft of dried seaweed, blueberry, lilac and salami are carried long by peppery acidity and a carriage of tannin, all detailed and succulent. Initially understated, this mid-weighted wine grows in stature with time in the glass or ideally, in the cellar. Fermented wild and barely messed with, this is unadulterated winemaking at its best - 95 Points"

Tasting Notes
2017 Savaterre Shiraz is such a aromatic floral wine. Underlying forest berries and fresh earthy aromas. It just leaps out of the glass and continues to grow. This is developing into a beautiful, sophisticated and seductive wine. Forget what you imagine from Australian Shiraz. Think more Northern Rhone.Côte Rôtie or Hermitage. You must decant this wine well ahead of time to see it in its entirety. There is a wonderful freshness and precision on the palate. sweet spice, morello cherry, violets, cured meats, oriental spices and black raspberry fruit. A voluptuous medium to full-bodied wine with striking minerality. Fine grain tannins and sinew ensure a long future of textural pleasure. A seamless palate and silky texture keeps you intrigued. A serious, complete, balanced and concentrated wine. So elegant and effortless.
