TASTING NOTES

Schoolhouse Wines crafts its 2019 Coonawarra Shiraz from a vineyard planted near the original Comaum School, embracing a sense of place and heritage. The vintage benefits from ideal ripening conditions, giving fruit full intensity and clarity. Aromas of blackberry pie, blueberry and bay leaf create an immediately inviting high-toned profile, while the palate remains fresh and textured, showcasing saturated fruit without heaviness. Velvety tannins and deft oak support a graceful, layered expression with generosity and poise. A distinctive take on Coonawarra shiraz, it balances vibrancy and complexity with an accessible charm.

Scores

95/100

Impossibly blue and bright on the nose – blackberry pie, blueberry and fresh bay leaf. In the mouth the wine is satisfying and fresh, almost uncomplicated in its expression of succulent, saturated fruit flavour. It is velvety and full. The length is very good, it shows promise for the years ahead.
