95 / 100"Fermented with 20% whole bunches, the remainder whole berry, 18 days on skins, plunged daily, the free-run and pressings combined after fermentation and racked off gross lees, matured for 18 months in French barriques and hogsheads (15% new). Spicy/textured whole bunch delivers."

"15 year old vines grown at 483 metres above sea level, on Menglers Hill. DIAM cork, the curse of the wine writer who wants to give bottles away. Most often they simply do not fit back into the neck. Luckily, I keep a raft of corks to hand (ex Barolo). Lush, dark wine, has some truffle and tinned corn characters, sage and chocolate, blackberry and blackcurrant. Full-bodied, smooth and silty tannin, ample flavour and richness, palate saturating, albeit in a truffly Eden kind of way. Shows some raspberry and spice, and boiled fruit cake flavour on a pretty long finish. Regionality is not in question"

Tasting Notes
Very deep garnet in color with a purple hint, the 2014 Shiraz Max's Garden offers a gorgeous baked cherries, plum preserves and dark chocolate scented nose with hints of licorice, spice box and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied with a real richness of flavor and expression as opposed to heaviness, it has a velvety texture and wonderfully long, spicy finish.
