Tasting Notes
Stevens Semillon comes from the now Tyrrell’s owned Stevens Vineyard on Marrowbone Road, Pokolbin, our southernmost Semillon vineyard. This vineyard features a combination of light, sandy loams and darker, heavier transitional soils. The oldest plantings on this vineyard are from 1911.
This year, Stevens Semillon shows a vibrant citrus lift, along with its typical mineral edge. The palate is tightly bound and has a racy citrus fruit profile that is tight, elegant, and impeccably long with an almost sherbet-like character. One of the better Stevens Semillon releases in recent memory. Drinking very well at six years of age but will evolve gracefully over the next five to ten years.

Scores
94 / 100"Stevens is always the first vineyard to be picked (for Semillon) by Tyrrell’s, and it’s certainly the zippiest number from the 2018 vintage. Tight and lemony, Granny Smith apple, and lemon sherbet, hits with a burst of flavour, subtle talc-like texture, real zip and energy on the finish, with a slight green herb/gin and tonic perfume trailing in its wake. Plenty of crunch and intensity in a light framework."
