TASTING NOTES

Longhop Adelaide Hills Pinot Gris 2024 offers a vibrant expression of the cool-climate Adelaide Hills, sourced from the picturesque hamlet of Forreston. Crafted by Tim Freeland and Domenic Torzi, this wine reflects their commitment to non-interventional, vegan-friendly winemaking, resulting in a fresh, generous, and flavour-packed experience.

This Pinot Gris captivates with bright aromas and flavours of freshly picked orchard fruits, including pear, honeydew, and crisp apple. The palate is lively yet balanced, making it an ideal companion for spiced eastern cuisines, oven-roasted vegetables, chicken, or pork dishes.

Longhop’s dedication to quality is evident through the use of Adelaide Plains old vine survival plantings dating back to the 1950s, which contribute depth and character to the wine. This vintage over delivers in both value and quality, showcasing lush textures and a generous flavour profile that stands out in its category.

Perfectly embodying the unique terroir of the Adelaide Hills, known for its cool climate and panoramic vineyards, this Pinot Gris is a refined choice for those seeking a sophisticated yet approachable white wine.

(2023 vintage). This Gris is made from low-yielding vines grown in steep, high terrain in the Adelaide Hills. More Grigio than Gris in my book, crisp and crunchy with a squeeze of citrus and green herbs. No overripe pears here, lovely style. Refreshing summer drinking.

This wine has something of Southern Italian white character about it, which I like, even though it’s Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills.

Apple, pear, dried herbs, some musky perfume. It’s fleshy and a little bit chalky, somewhat savoury, with balanced acidity and a quinine and lemon zest bitterness on a finish of good length. I like the texture and gentle grip it offers. Very good.
