Tasting Notes
This is a medium bodied, oh-so elegant GSM with lifted, spicy fruit notes of blackberry and blueberry. On the palate it is well-balanced with soft tannins and integrated fruit characters, with a lingering (yet not heavy) finish. A delightfully more-ish wine to enjoy with or without food!
Stuey Bourne, Barossa Winemaker of the Year 2020, uses his unique knowledge and relationships to source parcels of fruit from 13 different vineyard sites around the Barossa Valley, with the final blend comprising 35% Grenache, 33% Shiraz and 27% Mataro, with just a touch of Cinsault, Durif and Graciano added for good measure. Made using traditional techniques, it is matured for 20 months in a combination of French puncheons and hogsheads (15% new) before bottling.

92 / 100"These days, the old Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre blend is as much a part of the Barossa landscape as it is of France’s Rhone Valley. And you can usually put good money on the fact that the Barossan examples will hail from vines much older than those found in the Rhone. Here, the vines range between fifty and an amazing 130 years of age. This is made by the former Barossa Winemaker of the Year, Stuart Bourne. A dark garnet with a ruby red rim. The nose offers an array of perfumes, including plums, dried herbs, warm earth, licorice, animal fur, red berries and spices. Juicy acidity, good focus, fine tannins and medium length here. It will provide pleasure for at least the next eight to twelve years. Good buying."

"This is a perfectly poised, medium-bodied, and stylish example of Barossa GSM. It's loaded with spicy fruit, including blackberry and interesting blue fruit notes for complexity. Well balanced, with a fine tannin influence and subtle use of oak. It comes from many different sites around the Barossa and is a largely equal mix of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro, with small amounts of Cincault, grenache and graciona. Despite spending 20 months in French oak puncheons and hogsheads before bottling, it is anything but excessively oaky. A delightful example of a great value Barossa GSM, perfect for drinking in the short to medium term."

"Sweetly fruited with savoury notes, the wine shows dark plum, smoked game, mushroom, and toasted nut characters on the nose. The palate displays succulent fruit intensity with supple texture and a rounded mouthfeel, finishing long and silky."
