Tasting Notes
Since its founding in 1725, Château Gruaud Larose has stood as a pillar of Left Bank excellence, stewarded by just four families over three centuries. Its 82-hectare vineyard, planted in 1784 and unchanged since its 1855 classification as a Second Growth, forms a single, cohesive terroir encircling the château.
With a deep respect for nature and tradition, Gruaud Larose has evolved into a model of sustainability. From organic farming and agroforestry to eco-pasturing and innovative vineyard practices, every initiative is designed to maintain environmental harmony and uphold the estate’s timeless character. Under the technical leadership of Virginie Sallette since 2018, the team has achieved greater precision through a long-term replanting strategy and thoughtful adjustments across the winemaking process.
The 2024 vintage demanded patience and precision. Cool spring weather and September rains delayed ripening, but careful monitoring allowed the fruit to reach full maturity. Harvest began on 27 September, yielding a wine that reflects the estate’s deep roots and forward-thinking approach.

98 / 100"81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc What depth, definition and freshness in this bouquet marked by notes of mint, raspberries, blueberries and graphite complemented by floral vegetal, respectively notes of iris. Dense and powerful, the wine is led by precise tannins with fine grains which create an exceptional symbiosis with the temperament of the acid structure. An accomplished, persuasive and powerful wine. It is in its wake and aims to be as authentic as it is serene. Serenity; a qualifier that defines great wines! 2029-2049 - Yves Beck"

"The 2024 vintage of Château Gruaud Larose has clearly drawn back from the image of a floral garden in full bloom that defined previous vintages. Even with a generous swirl, only subtle notes of licorice, blackcurrant, and dried petals emerge. But once on the palate, everything becomes clearer. The tannins, layered with cocoa and pearl powder, gently coat the palate, refining the structure while bringing an unexpectedly rich sensation. Judging from its current state, this reserved expression will likely take at least five to seven years to awaken. As nuances of pinecone and cigar box begin to rise, it promises a tasting experience that is calm, layered, and enduring."
