TASTING NOTES

Domaine Henri Gouges stands among the most esteemed producers in Nuits-Saint-Georges, with a history of producing powerful, structured reds from some of the commune’s most respected vineyards. "Les Saint-Georges" is considered by many to be the finest premier cru in the appellation, consistently showing depth and potential for long-term development.

The 1992 vintage was vinified in the domaine’s traditional style, with hand-harvested Pinot Noir fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels - just enough new oak to lend subtle spice and support structure, without masking terroir. The winemaking remains focused on expressing site character and longevity.

Now mature, this wine reveals a bouquet of dried cherry, wild strawberry, sous-bois, and earthy spice, with gentle notes of leather and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied, silky yet with an underlying firmness typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges, framed by resolved tannins and bright acidity. There’s a persistent finish with layers of savoury fruit, forest floor, and mineral nuance. This is a classic, old-school Burgundy with grace, complexity, and the pedigree of a great site, drinking at its peak.
