A compelling expression of the variety; the immediately appealing bouquet shows blackcurrant, sweet cherry, spicy oak and subtle cigar notes, leading to a multi-layered mouthfeel offering awesome fruit concentration and persistency. It's brilliantly structured by loads of fine chalky tannins, finishing sturdy and satisfying.

91/7/1/1% cabernet sauvignon/petit verdot/malbec/cabernet franc; 32yo vines. Matured for 18 months in French oak (44% new). Shaved hung deli meat, blackberry pie, salted black licorice and the sweet gummy character you get off blackcurrant pastilles. The tannins are soft and pliable; they coat the tongue and cheeks and blanket the fruit in a velvet sheath. Quite different from the wines from its neighbours; for that individuality, quite beautiful.
