TASTING NOTES

Eisenstone Hoffmann Dallwitz Vyd Ebenezer Shiraz 2022 is a distinguished single vineyard wine crafted from the historic Dallwitz Block, with vines planted predominantly between 1888 and 1912. This exceptional Shiraz is sourced specifically from rows 25-30 of the “younger” 70+ year old vines, representing the finest parcel and barrels of the vintage.

The grapes undergo fermentation in small batches, ensuring meticulous attention to detail. The wine then matures for 20 months in 50% new French oak barrels, imparting a refined complexity and depth. With minimal intervention throughout the winemaking process, including no cold stabilization or filtration, this Shiraz preserves its purest expression and vibrant character.

Critically acclaimed, this release has earned an outstanding 99 points from The Real Review, underscoring its exceptional quality and craftsmanship. The Eisenstone Hoffmann Dallwitz Vyd Ebenezer Shiraz 2022 offers a rich, layered profile with concentrated dark fruit, subtle spice, and elegant oak nuances.

Originating from a region renowned for producing age-worthy Shiraz, this wine promises continued development and complexity, with the potential to mature gracefully until at least 2040. Its balance of power and finesse makes it a remarkable example of premium Australian Shiraz, ideal for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a wine with both immediate appeal and long-term aging potential.

Experience the heritage and precision of this unique vineyard selection, where tradition meets modern winemaking excellence, delivering a Shiraz that is both bold and sophisticated.

Scores

99/100

Deep and intense ruby colour. Blueberry, vanilla pod and violet aromas. Dark fruits fill the senses, plush in texture but have a lightness of touch that belies the intensity. Subtle oak sings at the edges but the sense of place is strong with this wine. Ferrous, iodine and bloody notes are the savoury characters that really draw you in with a seamless integration of all the parts. Tannins are silken but driving, length prodigious and pleasure off the scale. I’d be hard pressed not to drink it now but cellaring will add even more to the experience.
