TASTING NOTES

Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Noir 2024 offers an exquisite expression of Australian Pinot Noir that balances vibrancy and complexity with exceptional value. This wine showcases a captivating bouquet dominated by red berries and dark cherry, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla and spice that unfold elegantly on the nose.

The palate reveals firm mid-palate tannins that provide structure, leading to a refreshing acidity that lingers on the finish. Crafted with meticulous care, all fruit is hand-picked in the cool morning hours and gently de-stemmed without crushing to preserve purity. The winemaking process incorporates both natural and cultured yeasts, with selective cold soaking and fermentation techniques that enhance flavor depth and texture.

Post-fermentation, the wine undergoes maturation in a thoughtful blend of oak barrels: 30% new, 30% one-year-old, and the remainder aged in two and three-year-old barrels. This 11-month barrel aging imparts subtle oak nuances while maintaining the wine’s fresh and fruity character. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, the wine retains its natural vibrancy and complexity.

Recognized as Australia’s best value Pinot Noir under $30, this vintage has earned critical acclaim, including a 92+ point rating from Gary Walsh, who describes it as "a more fruity and bouncy expression of Hoddles Pinot." The Hoddles Creek region is renowned for its cool climate and diverse soils, contributing to the wine’s elegant structure and refined fruit profile.

Experience a Pinot Noir that delivers both sophistication and approachability, making it a standout choice for those seeking a premium wine with a dynamic flavor profile of black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and spice. Whether paired with seasonal dishes or enjoyed on its own, the Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Noir 2024 embodies the essence of quality Australian winemaking.

Red fruit, cherry, a little earthy, with some cinnamon oak showing, and sarsaparilla. It’s a more fruity and bouncy expression of Hoddles Pinot, some grainy chew to tannin, a bit of sap and orange rind, something of a ferrous edge, with a stiff tannic finish of good length. Needs a bit of time to come around. It’s maybe a little more robust and fruity than is usual for this wine, though it’s still good.
