Tasting Notes
"Our Barbera block is made up of 2 Piemonte clones (84 and 424), planted in 2010 on a slight North-facing slope consisting of shallow sandy-clay loam with iron stone and quartz. The vines are cane and spur pruned to diversify the picking time of each parcel. We harvest and vinify the two clones separately until final blending for bottle. Hand harvested, bunch sorted and vinified using traditional techniques. Pressed after 2 weeks, the wine is then matured in 1,500 litre Slavonian oak and seasoned French oak puncheons."

Scores
93 / 100"Inspired by the more modern school of Piedmont, this is a rich barbera toned in oak. Mocha and coffee bean aromas segue to molten dark cherry, root spices, tamarind and licorice straps, with a frisk of acidity and a curb of tannin, all moving in alloyed synchronicity. Built in the name of savouriness and versatility at the table, this is perhaps the finest rendition of the variety in the country. Ned Goodwin MW"
