Tasting Notes
Sourced from the lilliputian Aesctun vineyard at 500m elevation and Gully Road at 550m elevation. Adelaide Hills vineyards at such elevations belong in a rarified group of extremely cool climate sites ideally suited to the Pinot Noir grape.
Hand-picked on the 4th, 20th and 24th of April, wild yeast fermented in closed puncheon and open fermenter, 10% whole bunch, matured for 11 months in French oak (30% new, Francois Frères). Unfined.

Scores
95 / 100"From two vineyards in Piccadilly set at 500m and 550m above sea level. Wild yeast fermented with 10% whole bunches, sees 30% new French oak. Supple, succulent and yet curiously and beautifully light weight. Lots of twiggy wood elements amongst tart black cherry, light cola notes, dried cranberry with touches of turned earth and undergrowth chiming in. Distinctly savoury, fresh-feeling despite this qualification, lifts on rails of fine, silty tannin and finishes bright and with blood orange bitter-freshness. It rates high for drinkability even with all this fine detail and structure accounted for. Wonderful wine.” 95/100 Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion"
