TASTING NOTES

Mount Mary Triolet 2023 is a masterful blend showcasing the elegance and complexity that define premium Australian white wines. Crafted from 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 23% Semillon, and 12% Muscadelle, this vintage captivates with a vibrant bouquet of ripe citrus, melon, passionfruit, and guava, enhanced by delicate fennel notes. The coastal influence is unmistakable, with subtle hints of brine and sea spray adding a refreshing aromatic complexity.

On the palate, the Triolet 2023 is concentrated and layered, delivering persistent flavors that range from pink grapefruit and green apple to passionfruit and gooseberry. Unlike many white wines, it avoids overt ripeness, maintaining a crisp, refined profile. Savoury, nutty undertones and lees-derived richness contribute depth and elegance, while barrel fermentation with solids and careful phenolic extraction create a fine, pithy texture that enhances both structure and mouthfeel.

This meticulous winemaking approach not only ensures excellent food compatibility but also supports outstanding cellar potential. Recognized as one of Australia’s best ageing white wines, the Mount Mary Triolet 2023 earned an impressive 95 points from The Wine Front, underscoring its exceptional quality and aging capability.

Originating from one of Australia's premier wine regions, this vintage benefits from a cool climate that preserves bright acidity and vibrant fruit expression. The 2023 season delivered ideal ripening conditions, allowing the grapes to develop complexity without excessive sugar accumulation, resulting in a balanced and expressive wine.

Perfect for those seeking a sophisticated white wine with depth, structure, and longevity, the Mount Mary Triolet 2023 is a refined choice for any wine collection or special occasion.

An outstanding release, perhaps the best I’ve tasted in the last two decades, showing concentrated flavor and a pithy character with tension, drive and a distinctive Pessac-like mineral core. Aromas of lemon confit, Asian pears, oats, beeswax, lanolin, flint, mandarin blossoms, grapefruit, biscuits, crushed stones and honeysuckle. The palate is fine and textural, with racy acidity wrapped around a weighted, seamlessly integrated mouthfeel, layered with minerals over a citric finish. Truly exceptional and unique and arguably the finest interpretation of Bordeaux blanc in this region. 65% sauvignon blanc, 23% semillon and 12 percent muscadelle. Drink or hold. It will age for decades. Screw cap.

Intense aromas of confit lemon, quince, oyster shell and white flowers. Even at this early stage, there’s a real sense of harmony on the chalky, saline, structured and very long palate. If you have never tasted this wine, you are missing out on what I have long regarded as one of the Yarra Valley’s, and indeed Australia’s, finest white wines.
