Tasting Notes
Where the 2022 M was reverent, the 2023 M is an evolution — bolder in tone, more sculptural in flavour, and just as visually arresting. Encased in hand-crafted crystal like a relic from a future age, it is as much object as expression. This whisky doesn't just taste rare — it feels designed.
The nose is a multi-layered marvel. Sultanas soaked in old Sherry. Blood orange rind dusted with clove. Caramelized fig, cinnamon toast, aged cedar, and a flicker of rosewater. Beneath the fruit, a deeper bass note of damp cellar, leather-bound volumes, and time-worn wood. You don’t smell it — you immerse in it.
The first sip is textural poetry. Dense, rich, deliberate. Toffee ripple, dried apricot, clove-laced honey, cocoa powder, and black cherry syrup. The ABV gives it weight, but the balance is masterful — nothing shouts, everything sings. The oak is ever-present but never overpowering, guiding the experience like the walls of a grand concert hall.
Mid-palate builds the composition. Incense, ginger cake, malt toffee, and nutmeg-dusted orange segments emerge slowly. There’s structure and silhouette — like watching stained glass refract sunlight. Every turn of the glass gives you something new.
The finish is reflective. A drawn-out interplay of dried fruit, spice, soft malt, and oak oils. Long after it’s gone, you’re still in the room with it. Still holding the note. M 2023 is not a single malt. It’s an artefact of craftsmanship — a whisky that takes its time, and deserves yours.
