TASTING NOTES

Claymore Joshua Tree Riesling 2025 is a masterful expression of Watervale’s renowned terroir, crafted from a blend of select parcels across three Riesling sites. Using only free run juice and cool fermentation, this wine captures the essence of a classic Watervale Riesling with a vibrant, forward fruit profile and delicate floral nuances.

The bouquet offers a lifted perfume of orange and lime blossom, enriched by subtle hints of musk and a distinctive mineral undertone reminiscent of bath salts. Notes of old-fashioned lemon barley cordial and pristine, steely minerality create a complex aromatic experience that continues seamlessly onto the palate. The wine’s texture reveals a pleasant chalkiness and a deceptively powerful concentration, finishing dry and clean without any astringency.

This vintage exemplifies the hallmark of great years in Watervale: a commanding fruit weight that lingers alluringly, balancing finesse with intensity. Its generous fruit concentration and refined structure make it an ideal companion for white anchovy, soft cheeses, and crusty artisan bread—true peasant gourmet done right.

Some of the vines used for this very youthful but delightfully fresh Riesling from the Watervale sub-region date back to the 1930s. Pale lemon in colour, this is beautifully perfumed, with notes of lemon curd, spices, florals and grapefruit. A fine line of minerals and riverstones in the background as support. There is fine balance and bright acidity, which runs the full journey. Enjoy over the next ten to fifteen years. Stunning value.

It's elegant and beautifully scented on the nose, with aromas of green apple, white-fleshed nectarine, fig and lime peel. The palate is concentrated and focused with fine flow, backed by beautifully pitched acidity, making it wonderfully structured and harmonious with a sustained, refined finish.

New Season Riesling ready to go in line with the 2025 Vintage’s early harvest. Watervale sourced, brimming with all its regional character and freshly unleashed energy. Fantastic lemon and lime crush - juice and zest, makrit lime leaf as well - with a distinctive lavender like perfume. The lemons drive the palate at first, acidity lively up front, tapering to a more restrained zing in the finish, leaving more of a white pepper spice note to linger in the exit, that perfume reverberating as you lower the glass. Very approachable for such a freshie.

A springtime fling of star jasmine, white pear and yellow plums. There is a salt bath mineral note, crushed chalk and all manner of lemon and lime trees overloaded with hanging with fruit. The palate is fairly dry with a skerrick of tutti fruity nectar, but with that bracingly crisp finish we all know and love. A touch of fuzzy sage and raw almond on the finish. This is perky and uplifted and a wonderful wine to kick start a party. Drink with dancing music, corn chips and chunky guacamole.
