TASTING NOTES

This Pinot Noir is your ticket to a truly special dinner night, where every sip feels like a little celebration of the beautiful Central Otago landscape.

Pouring a bright ruby hue, the 2022 Domain Road Bannockburn Pinot Noir is bursting with juicy red cherries, raspberry, and wild strawberry, lifted by delicate violet and rose petal aromas. There’s a subtle savory twist of thyme and crushed stone that keeps things interesting, while the silky medium body and fine-grained tannins make each sip feel smooth and refined. It’s vibrant and elegant, with a refreshing acidity that carries the finish long and bright — a total knockout from a region known for intensity and finesse.

This wine comes from sustainably farmed estate vineyards in Bannockburn, a sun-soaked spot with dramatic schist soils and a climate that balances warm days and cool nights perfectly. The 2022 vintage gave fruit with excellent concentration and purity, making this Pinot not just delicious young but ready to develop gorgeous complexity over the next 8 to 10 years.

Enjoy it alongside seared salmon, duck breast with cherry glaze, or a rich mushroom risotto for a moment where every bite and sip feels thoughtfully savored. This is what “Find your place” looks like in a glass — effortless, elegant, and undeniably memorable.

Scores

5/100

The classy 2022 vintage was estate grown and harvested in the Defiance and Domain Road vineyards and matured in French oak barriques. Deep, bright ruby, it is mouth filling, savoury and well structured, with fresh acidity, concentrated ripe fruit flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, excellent complexity and refined tannins. Still a baby, with obvious potential - it is well worth cellaring to 2027+
