TASTING NOTES

Domaine Francois Raveneau Chablis AC 2017 exemplifies the pinnacle of Chablis winemaking with its signature textural minerality and exceptional purity. This vintage is widely regarded as a "textbook Chablis," celebrated for its remarkable freshness and density that perfectly captures the essence of the Burgundy terroir.

The 2017 vintage offers a palate with notable energy and power, surpassing the finesse of the 2016 release. It reveals a pronounced "liquid stone" character, delivering a stony, mineral-driven finish that lingers elegantly. This distinctive profile is a hallmark of the Chablis region, where the unique Kimmeridgian limestone soils impart a crisp, vibrant minerality prized by connoisseurs worldwide.

Sourced from a premium private cellar, this wine reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication of Domaine Francois Raveneau, one of Chablis’s most revered producers. The 2017 vintage benefits from ideal growing conditions that enhanced grape ripeness and concentration, resulting in a wine of superb balance and complexity.

Perfectly suited for pairing with seafood, shellfish, and refined poultry dishes, this Chablis is an exquisite choice for those seeking a refined white wine with depth and character. Its vibrant acidity and layered texture make it a versatile and memorable expression of classic French winemaking.

Very exuberant peaches and citrus with very elemental citrus notes, too. There’s more energy than 2016. Good power and a very attractive fleshy texture. Drink or hold. Tasted Jul 2018

The 2017 Chablis is beautifully pure, but also classically austere, which of course won't be an issue in time, but should be a consideration for readers who want something to drink now. The orchard fruit, citrus, mint and floral notes are very nicely delineated, especially for a village-level wine. I came back to the Chablis after all the Grand Crus. While it was obviously not at the same level, the village more than held its own. The 2017 is an impressive wine by any measure. It is a stellar wine. Readers who can find it should jump.
