TASTING NOTES

Fortaleza Blanco Tequila captures the true essence of traditional tequila craftsmanship. Produced by the family-owned Destilería La Fortaleza since 1873 in the heart of Tequila, Jalisco, this blanco expression is a bold tribute to time-honored methods that honor the agave’s natural character.

Every bottle is crafted using brick oven-roasted agave, crushed by a volcanic stone tahona, then fermented in open-air wooden tanks before being double distilled in copper pot stills. This slow, meticulous process ensures a spirit that is intensely pure, rich in texture, and deeply complex—a true reflection of its terroir.

On the nose, Fortaleza Blanco is vibrant and alive, offering an electric bouquet of cooked agave, fresh lime zest, olive brine, crushed mint, black pepper, and wet earth. The palate unfolds with profound layers of roasted agave, white pepper, citrus oil, green olive, jalapeno heat, and limestone minerality, delivering a bold yet balanced experience. The mouthfeel is silky and slightly oily, a hallmark of traditional fermentation without additives, finishing long and bright with a salty-sweet fade that lingers memorably.

This tequila is bottled unaged to preserve its raw, earthy intensity and herbal complexity. It does not rely on oak aging or modern shortcuts, making it an authentic representation of the Tequila Valley’s sun, stone, and spirit.

  • Family-owned since 1873: maintaining artisanal production at NOM 1493 with open-air fermentation and copper pot still distillation.
  • Unaged to capture raw agave essence: delivering an intense, mineral-rich, and herbaceous profile.
  • Horno-baked agave and natural fermentation: bold, traditional methods create a layered, textured spirit.

Fortaleza Blanco is not just a tequila; it is a statement of heritage and quality. Pour it neat and savor its story—an authentic taste of Mexican tradition crafted for those who appreciate tequila at its finest.
