TASTING NOTES

La Foule 'Pays d’Oc' Pinot Noir 2023 captures the essence of the Languedoc’s unique terroir with elegance and finesse. Crafted by Frederic, a winemaker with international experience spanning Australia, New Zealand, California, and Burgundy, this wine reflects his deep commitment to showcasing the exceptional qualities of the Pays d’Oc region.

Grown at high altitude in the hills of Limoux, the grapes benefit from cool nights and abundant sunshine during the day. This significant temperature variation ensures an ideal balance between ripe fruit flavors and refreshing acidity, resulting in a Pinot Noir that is both vibrant and nuanced.

The fruit is carefully sourced from select cooler vineyard sites scattered throughout the southern French hills, where the diverse soils and microclimates allow the Pinot Noir grape to thrive. This attention to terroir is evident in the wine’s bright red berry aromas, subtle spice, and silky texture.

Alistair Cooper MW describes the wine as “wonderfully appealing,” a testament to its refined character and approachable style. The 2023 vintage showcases the region’s potential for producing high-quality Pinot Noir with finesse and depth.

Key highlights include:

  • Premium Pinot Noir from cooler, high-altitude vineyard sites in Limoux, France
  • Distinctive balance of freshness and ripe fruit due to significant diurnal temperature shifts
  • Crafted by an internationally experienced winemaker dedicated to the Pays d’Oc terroir

Wonderfully appealing fruit and freshness. Immediately red and dark fruits to smell, then this carries through to the flavours coupled with a nice hint of spice on the palate – no oak showing to distract from this freshness. Generous and rounded but still with acidity through the middle giving it shape and structure beyond it's price point. Fantastic Pinot Noir.

From the Pays DOC, the hills of Limoux, Languedoc, this is a rather delicious Pinot Noir, definitely worth seeking out. And cracking value. No oak is used here, so no distractions from the quality fruit.

A crimson red, the nose here exhibits notes of raspberries and cherries, a hint of warm earth, bay leaves and spices. A supple and seductive texture, the wine has fine balance, sleek tannins and very good length. Generous flavours ensure that this delicious wine will be a crowd pleaser, now and over the next three to four
