TASTING NOTES

Stefano Lubiana Il Giardino Pinot Noir 2023 is a masterful expression of Tasmania’s unique terroir, crafted by one of Australia’s leading winemakers. This premium single-block Pinot Noir is grown in the Il Giardino vineyard, where a distinctive soil composition of cracking black clay over chalky limestone creates ideal conditions for vine health and water retention. Planted at elevations between 60 and 80 metres, the 15-year-old vines consist of a carefully selected mix of clones including Abel, 8047, Pommard, D4V2, and MV6, ensuring complexity and depth in every bottle.

The grapes are 100% hand-picked and undergo wild fermentation in open-top fermenters for up to 18 days, with 35% whole bunches used in the 2023 vintage to enhance structure and aromatic intensity. Maturation takes place in second- and third-fill 228-litre French oak barriques for 12 months in a temperature-controlled underground cellar, followed by bottle ageing for over a year under natural cork before release. This meticulous process preserves the wine’s purity and elegance.

On the nose, the 2023 Il Giardino Pinot Noir delights with perfumed aromas of red cherry, roasted strawberry, orange peel, and potpourri. The palate reveals layered, ethereal earthiness balanced by vibrant blood plum, dark pomegranate, black cherry, and a subtle hint of dried oregano. The wine offers bright acidity, firm yet fine tannins, and excellent length, making it versatile for immediate enjoyment when decanted or suitable for long-term cellaring over 10 to 15 years.

  • Crafted by a renowned Australian winemaker using only the finest Tasmanian grapes.
  • Unique palate balancing fruitiness, acidity, and tannins for a refined tasting experience.
