The final Escarpment Pahi due to vineyard ownership changes, this offers an intense expression on the nose with iodine, tarry elements, bracken, graphite, darker cherries and biscuity spices. The palate unfurls at a smooth and even pace, delivering a ball of supple red cherry-flavoured pinot noir fruit flesh and silky, sweeping waves of tannins. Always good to go out on a high, this is superb. Drink now. Screw cap.

Deeply scented pinot noir with ripe plum, dark cherry and spicy oak flavours. Concentrated, dense and approachable but with obvious cellaring potential. Very defined fruit flavours - a textbook example of the variety that is somehow amplified by a subtle influence of spicy French oak.

Deep red colour with good purple tints. The bouquet is shy and quite oaky, with toasty and nutty nuances; a smoky charred-stave note. The palate is lush and sweetly-fruited, intense and concentrated. The tannins and oak are not as domineering as in some of the Escarpment wines. Still, there is density and muscle and the wine seems to have long-term ageing potential
