Tasting Notes
Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024 is a masterful expression of one of Australia’s premier cool-climate wine regions. Crafted from 100% hand-picked fruit sourced across the Yarra Valley, including 50% from the elevated Upper Yarra Ranges, this Pinot Noir reflects the unique terroir with precision and elegance.
The 2024 vintage benefited from a cool spring and a mild growing season characterized by cool nights and abundant rainfall. This resulted in a later-than-average harvest, allowing grapes to develop intense fruit concentration balanced by vibrant natural acidity. Such conditions produce wines that are both fresh and complex, capturing the essence of the Yarra Valley’s climate and soils.
Produced with wild ferments and gravity-flow winemaking techniques, this wine undergoes minimal fining and filtration. These careful methods preserve the wine’s purity and enhance its expressive character. The result is a seductive and layered palate featuring fleshy red fruit, subtle savoury nuances, and silky tannins that provide a refined structure.
Recognized as one of the Top 100 Wineries in the World, Giant Steps consistently delivers wines of exceptional quality. The 2024 Pinot Noir has earned an impressive 96 points from James Halliday, underscoring its outstanding craftsmanship and appeal to discerning wine enthusiasts.
Ideal for those who appreciate a wine with depth and finesse, the Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024 offers a sophisticated drinking experience that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes or can be savored on its own.

95 / 100"A 50/50% mix of upper and lower Yarra estate and grower fruit. 30% whole bunches. A very bright crimson purple. Pretty and complex with aromas of red cherry skins and rhubarb together with some pink peppercorn spice and a light savoury edge. More approachable than the '23. As a young wine, the medium-bodied palate is spicy, silky and long. It'll probably age well but it's so good to drink now that there's no need to bother! - Philip Rich - Published 03 March 2025"
