TASTING NOTES

Your go-to Tasmanian Riesling for bright flavours and beautifully easy entertaining. Pressing Matters R69 Riesling 2022 brings a light, lively style with plenty of personality.

Expect a zesty lemon-citrus bouquet with hints of spice, honey and vanilla, followed by juicy notes of orange marmalade, candied quince, honeysuckle and ginger. Its subtle sweetness is perfectly balanced by high-voltage acidity, creating a crisp, refreshing finish that lingers.

Pour it with spicy Asian dishes, hard cheeses or a sweet dessert, and savour the moment from the first sip to the last. James Halliday has noted this wine’s ability to shine with both savoury and sweet food, making it a wonderfully versatile addition to your wine collection.

Pale green-yellow hue; a lifted perfume of honey, lime and lemon blossoms and the palate is rich and yet super-fine, the sweetness balancing out what is surely quite high acidity. The end result is gorgeous flavour and fruit/sugar/acid balance. The persistent honey note suggests the grapes were fully ripe. The finish is clean and harmonious. A smashing 'kabinett' style wine that will richly reward some cellaring.

Weighing in at 9.2% alcohol, this is what the Germans would refer to as a 'breakfast wine', a term that I love. The RS69 here denotes 69g RS in the wine, so think medium sweet. It's peachy with lemon drop, grapefruit zest, white flowers, crushed stone and a suggestion of spearmint and fennel further back. It's delicious. That steely acidity draws it all back into line, finishing unctuous yet focused and definitely moreish.
