Rich, robust and still a bit wound up. Big Barossa with a savoury streak, and it wants a few years. Deep and dense. Ripe blackberry, dark plum and black cherry, then spice, liquorice, sarsaparilla and that Coca-Cola lift. Full-bodied and tightly packed. Dark fruit wrapped around savoury spice, dark chocolate, cola, anise and seasoned oak. Firm, youthful tannin, long warming spicy finish. Intensity is all there. Dense, savoury, one for the cellar.

This is a full throttle style of Barossa Valley Shiraz, utterly adored by many, although if you are seeking delicacy and elegance, perhaps look elsewhere. Bold and robust, this is richly flavoured. Under cork and with a bottle best suited to weightlifters. A maroon core with deep red edges, this is dense, concentrated, powerful, big, rich and ripe. You get the picture. On the nose, we have notes of plums, soy, chocolate, black fruits, mocha, bacon fat, aniseed, warm earth and bay leaves. Oak is still evident but well integrated. Quite forward in style, this is generous and approachable with a lingering finish and satiny tannins. It does have impressive length. For enjoying over the next twenty years. As much time in the glass as you can offer it, will be to its benefit.

Big and bold and ripe Barossa Valley Shiraz, concentrated in every part of its delivery, pushed to the limits in many senses with savoury aromas suggesting mushroom broth and black bean / soy sauces, all buried deeply in the glass, predominantly French oak spice , dark anise-like seasoning the palate until a wave of dark fruit compote appears in the final swirls, almost to the point of blackberry jam. Robust and muscly, it repays a bit of airing in a decanter to let its softer side eventually be seen. For lovers of a style designed to sit you down and warm your extremities.
