"The 2019 Barolo Margheria is a classic Serralunga Barolo. Deep, savory and wonderfully complex, the Margheria offers up a compelling mix of red/purplish fruit, sage, menthol, licorice, dried flowers, graphite and melted road tar. Muscular tannins wrap it all together. The 2019 is seriously impressive."

"Elegant and extremely lucid in the sensory profile, it alternates notes of raspberries, cherries, hibiscus flowers, guarana, pomegranate, lime blossom, jasmine and hawthorn. Medium-full body, velvety tannins of splendid maturity and a creamy and subtle finish that relaxes giving grace and balance in the sip."
- Raffaele Vecchione

Tasting Notes

The Margheria vineyard is one of Serralunga’s most important and illustrious sites. The Massolino family bought their first parcel here in 1964, and the remainder came online during the ’70s. The current holding is 1.5 hectares. Sitting at 280 metres above sea level, Margheria is a very chalky vineyard with a good percentage of sand (which brings elegance), while the high calcium carbonate content brings vibrant, mineral energy to the natural depth of Serralunga.

Sparkling intense ruby garnet. Very exciting and complex nose, first some leather and truffles, then rose petals, dark, ripe plums. Juicy in the approach and course, shows a lot of fine-meshed, polished tannin, spreads out, a lot of raspberry in the long finish.
